Our history
Auscol, originally known as Bluhdorn, started over 50 years ago when it recognised an opportunity to collect and recycle the used cooking fats generated by the food industry.
In 1995 the business was acquired by the Gardner Smith Group who changed its name to Auscol.
Auscol was acquired by GrainCorp in 2012 and continues to be recognised as one of Australia’s leading, longest running, national UCO service providers.
As Auscol enters a second fifty years of growth and innovation, our team are excited to be part of the solution to global sustainability and environmental management.

Our Parent – GrainCorp
Auscol is owned by ASX-listed, global agribusiness GrainCorp which has been operating in Australia for more than a hundred years.
In addition to being the nation’s leading grains business, GrainCorp is today proud to be Australia’s:
- largest integrated edible oils business
- largest canola crusher
- leading provider of complex oils
- largest tallow exporter (~40% market share)
- largest importer of vegetable oils
- leading animal liquid feeds provider (molasses and vegetable oils); and
- largest integrated Used Cooking Oil upcycler.
Environmental Commitment and Sustainability
With many businesses eager to embrace sustainable practices, Auscol is committed to partnering with producers of Used Cooking Oil to develop an ideal UCO management plan tailored to their operations.
Used Cooking Oil collection and upcycling is a challenging, technical process and Auscol undergoes a stringent audit to maintain its International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC), in addition to Environment ISO 14001 Certification.

Certifications and Accreditations
Auscol is compliant with International Standards of Quality,
the Environment and Health & Safety in addition to complying with all local EPA licensing requirements.
We are one of only two businesses nationally to achieve the highest level of environmental accreditation: International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC).
ISCC compliance means we contribute to the implementation of environmentally, socially and economically sustainable production, utilising a variety of biomass in global supply chains.
Auscol is also accredited to collect, refine and upcycle Used Cooking Oil according to the Australian Renderers Association (ARA) Industry Code of Practice.
Safety First
Workplaces should bring growth and opportunity – not injury. We invest heavily in our commitment to the safety of our team, customers’ teams, the environment and the communities in which we operate. With a core value of Safety First, Auscol is a Used Cooking Oil industry-leader for safe practices.
