About us

Auscol is one of Australia’s largest waste oil collection services.

Operating nationally, we lead the industry for waste oil collection coverage, volume of used oil collected, ‘upcycling’ for renewable fuel, and for attaining international environmental certification.

Servicing more than 5000 Australian restaurants, fast food outlets, shopping centres and food manufacturers, Auscol provides its customers with state-of-the-art used oil storage tanks, a comprehensive waste oil collection service and unrivalled support.

We invest in ongoing research and development to stay at the leading edge of waste oil tank design, safe truck operation and sustainable processes.

Upcycling is the process of transforming by-products, waste or unwanted products into new materials of better quality or better environmental value.

A History in Waste Oil

Originally known as Bluhdorn, Auscol started more than 50 years ago in the collection and recycling of waste cooking fats generated by the food industry.

Gardner Smith Group bought the company in 1995 and changed its name to Auscol, which was then acquired by GrainCorp in 2012.

Auscol continues to be recognised as one of Australia’s leading, longest running, national waste oil collection services.

An integral operation within the broader GrainCorp Energy division, Auscol collects waste oil and processes it, ready for upcycling into renewable automotive fuel.

Entering our second 50 years of growth and innovation, we’re excited to be part of the solution to waste oil sustainability and environmental management.

Waste Oil For New Energy

When you engage the Auscol waste oil collection service, you are contributing directly to the fight against climate change.

The waste oil from your kitchen, factory or fryer is vacuum-pumped from the new generation tank we install on your premises into one of our specialised tanker trucks.

From there, the waste oil is aggregated at our premises, then processed into base material for the production of renewable fuel for heavy transport.

Depending on the fuel specification, renewable fuel can reduce vehicle tailpipe greenhouse emissions by as much as 85%.

And because GrainCorp Energy controls this end-to-end supply chain from waste oil collection through to renewable fuel ‘feedstock’ shipment, we can assure service and final product quality.

With Auscol waste oil collection, you’re part of something bigger, for better.

    Environmental Commitment and Sustainability

Safe waste oil collection and upcycling into base material ‘feedstock’ for renewable fuel production is a challenging, highly technical process.

And as the food industry switches to sustainable practices, inter-connected waste oil removal services such as Auscol become critical partners.

By developing a personalised waste oil management plan for your business, we match the tank size and type, and service schedule to your operation.

Our service comes quality assured, and we undergo stringent audits to maintain our International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC), and Environment ISO 14001 Certification.

It is our collective and individual responsibility… to preserve and tend to the world in which we all live.
